Located on a busy thoroughfare in a transitioning district of Glendale, the Gardens on Garfield is designed to respond to the social needs of the residents and to the architectural context of the wider community.
The Craftsman-style building uses a natural palette of materials. The defined stone base grounds the building, creating a sense of presence. The rhythm of the façade is segmented by articulation defined by alternating materials, which modulate the building's physical mass. Additional design details include wrought-iron guardrails, “Juliet” balconies and wood trellises.
