Riviera Beach Colony is an infill project developed on a former elementary school site surrounded by existing homes with unobstructed ocean views. Set on a gently sloping hillside that steps away from the Pacific, the design challenge was to create a step site to accommodates both “uphill” and “downhill” homes in order to preserve the existing vistas in the view-protected district. As a result, each of the 28, light-filled, private homes offers views of the nearby ocean. Influenced by Mediterranean themes and the estate homes of the Palos Verdes Peninsula and Hollywood Riviera, the design features tile roofs, smooth-toweled plaster exteriors, pre-cast stone detailing and handcrafted wrought iron front doors.
