06 Aug Rosena Fountains
Rosena Fountains, a 69-unit development for low-income families in Fontana, is designed to fit comfortably alongside the adjacent neighborhood of single family homes. The craftsman style architecture features distinctly residential details—punched windows and shutters, private porches and patios, and a warm color palette. Overall, the development consists of six, three-story buildings with flats and townhome units with 2 and 3-bedroom apartments; two laundry buildings; a maintenance building; and a leasing office.
At the heart of the complex, the community building, which encompasses a community room and computer lab with wireless internet, serves the residents and the extended community. The City of Fontana through its Housing Authority was one of the partners in the development and dedicated the community room for use by the local Little League for meetings and events. One wall of the community room features a mural-like portrait of Tom Day Jr., the son of the CEO of Portrait Construction, the builder on the project, who was killed in the mass shooting in Las Vegas in October 2017 during construction.
Outdoor amenities include two tot lots for children of different ages, picnic area, swimming pool and plenty of surface and carport parking. On-site social services are provided by LifeSTEPS and include after-school programming for children, educational classes for adults, and social activities for the residents.
Related California developed the housing in partnership with LaBarge Industries, Housing Partners I, and the Fontana Housing Authority.
