26 Jun The Met
The Met, a five-story, 284-unit apartment complex, on a prime downtown site on one of the city’s major boulevards, takes full advantage of its location with distinctive entrances, carefully articulated, contemporary facades and a pedestrian friendly streetscape.
Exploiting a change of grade on the site, the design creates a grand stair leading to a podium level gathering place replete with reflecting pools, lush landscaping, a community room and fitness center. The entry is framed by two glass towers, one of which is topped with a yoga veranda under a large canopy. A second entrance on First American Way leads to a lobby and the leasing offices. Entrances, pathways, fountains and landscaping define the ground plan and reinforce connectivity with the neighborhood.
The modern architecture employs scale, modularity and detail to signal the residential nature of the development, while a material and color palette of urban neutrals complements the commercial context.
