Withee Malcolm Architects designed Bella Vita with the comfort and security of seniors in mind. The new community provides 65 affordable residential apartments as part of a contemporary, four-story, mixed-use development in Carson, CA.  Of the 58 one-bedroom and 7 two-bedroom units, 33 provide mobility features and three have special communication features. Beyond the apartments, residents enjoy 20,000 square feet of common areas including a community room, a theater area, and three individual outdoor spaces—a community garden, podium garden and a park area. Convenience retail on the ground floor and bike racks in the onsite parking help to promote a car-free lifestyle.

James Silverwood, President of Affirmed Housing, said, “Bella Vita is designed to promote the health and well-being of its residents and the surrounding community.”

“We are pleased to partner with Affirmed Housing in bringing much needed housing to Carson,” said Dan Withee, AIA, Withee Malcolm founding partner. “Working with thoughtful and committed developers and the Carson community, we have helped to revitalize the city and provide quality homes to a wide mix of residents from seniors to soccer stars.”

Over the years, Withee Malcolm has added 450+ units of affordable, senior and market rate housing to the city with another 50 affordable apartments currently under construction.  In addition to the residences, they have designed thousands of square feet of retail, restaurant and other community use spaces.
