Targeting young working professionals, the interior design of 4632 Santa Monica focused on contemporary, clean furnishings within a minimalist color palette. Withee Malcolm’s Interiors group provided selection and specification of the finishes and furnishings in this new construction project located in Los Angeles’ East Hollywood neighborhood. Working within the colors and textures of the project’s exterior, also designed by the firm, communal spaces and unit designs played off of the reds of terra cotta, and greys and whites of other exterior materials with warm earth tones complimented by brass and gold accents. High impact choices with durable and easy to clean surfaces established a sophisticated yet informal approach.
In addition to color and material selections, the Interior’s group also focused on adjacencies for increased usability and security. On the first floor the reception desk was sited with front door and garage visibility in mind while leasing offices, a common mail area and shared meeting space were progressions towards a large fitness center. Second floor spaces such a clubroom lead to shared co-working space but with easy access to an amenity space with seating vignettes scattered for those lounging or just wanting a break from work. More active uses such as bar space, large lounge areas and outdoor grilling zones were reserved for a seventh floor roof deck.
